Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Community-Academic Partnership

The Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Community-Alliance Partnerships (NHPI CAP) program aims to bolster community-engaged research with the goal of addressing whole-person health in NHPI communities. People in these communities have higher rates of chronic illnesses—like heart disease and diabetes—stemming in part from obstacles that impact health,  such as limited access to health care and lower representation in health data.

NHPI communities, however, are closely connected through strong cultural values and social networks, establishing a strong pillar of support for health and well-being. The program aims to use these strengths to empower NHPI communities to shape, participate in, and benefit from community-engaged research.
